The ceremony featured the unit’s honor guard and senior staff. The appointment order was read by Cmdr. Jarosław Górski, Head of the Human Resources and Training Department, and the document was presented to Cmdr. Glista by Brig. Gen. Michalski, accompanied by Rear Adm. Andrzej Prokopski, Commander of the MOSG.
Cmdr. Glista has been with the Maritime Border Guard Unit since its inception and most recently served as Head of the Control Department. He holds a degree in political science from the University of Gdańsk and a postgraduate diploma in public administration audit and control from the University of Warmia and Mazury.
In recognition of his exemplary service, he has received numerous honors, including the Bronze Medal for Merit to National Defence (2004), the Border Guard Badge of Merit (2018), the Gold Medal for Long Service, the Gold Medal for Merit to the Border Guard, and the 30th Anniversary Medal of the Border Guard (all in 2022).
The appointment of a third deputy commander follows an organizational restructuring. On April 15, after 11 years, MOSG reinstated the Maritime Department. Since 2014, maritime affairs had been under the jurisdiction of the Border-Maritime Department. The structural change reflects the evolving maritime security landscape.
Brig. Gen. Michalski highlighted that the current geopolitical situation at sea necessitated the new role. He also thanked the leadership team for their professionalism and commitment to maritime security through structural and investment initiatives.
Rear Adm. Prokopski emphasized Cmdr. Glista’s extensive experience and expressed confidence in his ability to provide expert oversight and sound decision-making.
Cmdr. Glista thanked the leadership for their trust and pledged to meet the high standards and responsibilities of his new position. As Deputy Commander for Maritime Affairs, he will oversee the Maritime Department and two Border Guard divisions.
In recognition of Brig. Gen. Michalski’s continued support for the unit, the MOSG Commander and deputies honored him with the Maritime Border Guard Unit Commemorative Badge and presented him with a ceremonial ship’s bell.
