Fishing vessels from Ustka ordered back to port after safety inspection

On the first vessel, crewed by four fishermen, officers found that three individuals – including the skipper – did not hold valid STCW certificates. In addition, two crew members lacked the required fishing licenses. On the second vessel, manned by three people, the inspection revealed an expired hydrostatic release unit certificate for the liferaft.
- Due to the identified deficiencies, the commanding officer of SG-301 ordered both vessels to cease fishing operations and return immediately to the port of Ustka, said Tadeusz Gruchalla, spokesperson for the Maritime Unit of the Border Guard in Gdańsk.
Following the inspection, the Commander of the Kashubian Border Guard Division will submit a request to the Director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia to initiate administrative proceedings against the skippers of both vessels.
