The agreement forms part of broader efforts to strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions, research organisations and stakeholders operating in the fields of maritime affairs, security and defence.

Framework partnership focused on practical outcomes

The agreement establishes a framework for long-term, practice-oriented research cooperation. It provides for joint identification of research topics aligned with current challenges facing the maritime sector and the national security system. The partners plan to collaborate on the preparation and implementation of research and development projects, as well as on securing national and international funding.

The cooperation also includes the organisation of joint scientific seminars, workshops and conferences, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and closer integration of academic and engineering communities from both institutions.

Strong emphasis on education and skills development

A key component of the agreement is its educational dimension, aimed at supporting the development of students and early-career researchers and engineers. The partnership will facilitate joint educational initiatives, research placements and the involvement of students and doctoral candidates in applied research projects.

Such activities are intended to contribute to the education of highly qualified specialists prepared to work in the maritime, defence and advanced technology sectors.

Complementary expertise for maritime security

The Polish Naval Academy conducts education and research activities focused on defence and security, with particular emphasis on maritime security. The Academy develops expert knowledge and analytical capabilities supporting the Polish Armed Forces as well as the broader maritime community.

The Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences carries out advanced research and development in engineering and technical sciences, with a strong focus on solutions with high implementation potential. The Institute’s research output is applied in areas such as energy systems, industry, transport and maritime technologies.

A permanent platform linking science and practice

By combining the capabilities of a military higher education institution and a research institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the partnership is expected to strengthen both parties’ capacity to plan and deliver ambitious research and development projects and to translate scientific results into practical applications.

The agreement establishes a permanent cooperation platform that facilitates the integration of scientific and engineering expertise with the real needs of the maritime sector and the national security system, supporting the development of innovative solutions for the maritime economy.
