Border Guard bars fishermen from going to sea
Serious violations were uncovered on 5 May by an inspection team from the SG-212 patrol boat, part of the Pomeranian Border Guard Division, during a check on a fishing vessel from Mrzeżyno. The crew had planned to head out to sea, but Border Guard officers prohibited the departure until all irregularities were addressed.

- There were three people on board the fishing vessel. While moored at the port of Mrzeżyno, Border Guard officers carried out an inspection and found that several essential safety certificates were expired — including those for the life raft, the hydrostatic release unit, pyrotechnic distress signals, and the EPIRB beacon. Under SOLAS regulations, lifesaving equipment on board must undergo regular technical inspections. As a result, the commander of the SG-212 patrol boat prohibited the skipper from setting out to sea until all deficiencies were rectified, according to Tadeusz Gruchalla of the Maritime Border Guard Division in Gdańsk.
The commander of the Pomeranian Border Guard Division will submit a request to the Director of the Maritime Office in Szczecin to initiate administrative proceedings against the skipper from Mrzeżyno.
