Modern infrastructure at PGZ Naval Shipyard - a key investment for defense

A strategic modernization project is underway at PGZ Naval Shipyard in Gdynia, encompassing the construction of state-of-the-art warehouse facilities, a comprehensive overhaul of the road infrastructure, and the implementation of advanced security systems. The project's general contractor, NDI Group, has been actively involved in enhancing the shipyard's production capabilities for over two years.

Expansion of key facilities

One of the most critical aspects of this investment is the construction of a modern warehouse hall, ensuring optimal storage conditions for materials and components essential to naval production. Additionally, a specialized shelter for technical gases is being built, significantly improving safety and the organization of hazardous material storage.

Furthermore, building A-36 is undergoing adaptation to house a modern guardhouse with a covered entry gate. This facility is a crucial element of the security system, designed to enhance the protection of strategic assets within the shipyard.

Infrastructure and logistics modernization

The project also includes a large-scale redevelopment of the transportation network and technical infrastructure. This involves the modernization of internal roads, storage yards, and underground sanitary, electrical, and telecommunication installations. The total area covered by these works is approximately 31,000 m².

– We are currently executing a comprehensive redevelopment of both above-ground and underground infrastructure, including existing production halls – says Przemysław Młynarczyk, site manager at NDI Group. – The primary challenges include the tight project schedule and the necessity to carry out work within an operational facility. Despite these difficulties, the project remains on schedule, with approximately 45% completion.

Impact on the naval shipyard’s potential

The project’s completion, scheduled for autumn this year, will significantly improve transportation and logistics organization within the shipyard, as well as enhance its production capabilities. The modernized infrastructure will contribute to the more efficient execution of strategic naval programs, which is crucial for Poland’s shipbuilding industry and national defense.
