Under the agreement, the parties will jointly develop and update academic curricula related to nuclear energy, ensuring that graduates acquire skills aligned with industry needs. PEJ experts will contribute to teaching activities, sharing up-to-date technical and operational knowledge, while the university will support the company through analyses, expert studies and joint research projects.
- Our goal is not only to develop modern educational pathways, but also to provide young engineers with hands-on experience required for nuclear projects, said Piotr Piela, Vice President of the Management Board of Polish Nuclear Power Plants. - We want top graduates to see nuclear energy as a stable and attractive career path in Poland.
The cooperation also includes paid internships, scholarship programmes, technical site visits and participation in joint scientific and engineering competitions for students and PhD candidates. PEJ will additionally support the development of bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and postgraduate programmes tailored to the growing competency needs of the nuclear sector.
Poznań University of Technology has been actively involved in the implementation of Poland’s Nuclear Power Programme for several years. The university offers undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education in nuclear energy and participates in projects funded by national energy authorities.
- Formalising cooperation with PEJ is a particularly important step for us, said Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, Rector of Poznań University of Technology. - As one of Poland’s leading technical universities, we have strong educational and research potential to train specialists essential for the development of modern energy systems.
From an industry perspective, the initiative supports the broader energy and infrastructure ecosystem, including sectors linked to maritime logistics, offshore services and port infrastructure, which will play a supporting role in the construction and operation of nuclear facilities in northern Poland.
The agreement with Poznań University of Technology marks another milestone in PEJ’s strategy to build a domestic nuclear workforce. To date, the company has established partnerships with 13 leading technical universities across Poland, strengthening the foundation for the country’s long-term nuclear ambitions.
