Poland’s nuclear project creates new opportunities for regional accommodation sector
Polish Nuclear Power Plants (Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe – PEJ) have launched an assessment of available and planned accommodation facilities in the vicinity of the Lubiatowo–Kopalino nuclear power plant site in northern Poland. The initiative, which started on 19 January 2026, aims to evaluate the capacity of the regional hospitality sector to support one of the country’s largest infrastructure investments.

The construction of a nuclear power plant requires extensive organisational and logistical support. Providing suitable accommodation for thousands of workers involved in the project is a key element of the preparation process. During the peak construction phase between 2030 and 2035, the workforce on site may reach up to 12,000 people.
For local hotel owners, guesthouses and accommodation providers, the project represents a long-term business opportunity, particularly outside the traditional tourist season. Facilities can submit their details via an online questionnaire until 15 March 2026.
The assessment is being carried out by the Pomeranian Development Agency on behalf of PEJ and will cover existing facilities as well as projects under development or in the planning phase. Key selection criteria include location within the Puck, Wejherowo or Lębork counties and travel time to the construction site not exceeding 45 minutes.
- Large-scale nuclear projects require detailed planning far beyond engineering and energy infrastructure, said Marek Woszczyk, President of Polish Nuclear Power Plants. - Ensuring adequate accommodation for the workforce is a critical factor. We aim to rely as much as possible on regional resources and to work closely with local businesses, delivering tangible benefits to the Pomeranian region.
From an industry perspective, the Lubiatowo–Kopalino project is expected to stimulate not only the energy sector, but also maritime-related industries, transport and logistics services, and the regional hospitality market, which plays an important supporting role in major coastal infrastructure developments.
The study conducted by the Pomeranian Development Agency will be implemented in several stages. Following the initial survey, it will include direct consultations with facility owners, site visits and an inventory of selected locations. The final outcome will be a report with recommendations on the efficient and long-term use of regional accommodation resources.
- Our objective is to identify the full potential of the local accommodation base and propose solutions that will benefit both the investor and regional entrepreneurs, said Sławomir Kosakowski, President of the Pomeranian Development Agency.
