Arabelle Solutions selected to supply turbine island for Poland’s first nuclear power plant
The Bechtel–Westinghouse consortium has selected Arabelle Solutions as the supplier of steam turbines and key auxiliary turbine island components for Poland’s first nuclear power plant, to be built using Westinghouse’s AP1000® technology. The selection has been approved by Polish Nuclear Power Plants (PEJ), the state-owned company responsible for the project, located in the Choczewo municipality in northern Poland.

Under the agreement, Arabelle Solutions will deliver three complete steam turbine and generator sets for all planned reactor units, along with major auxiliary equipment required for the steam cycle. The turbine island is a critical element of the nuclear power plant, converting thermal energy from the reactor into electrical power.
The supplier was selected following a rigorous and competitive procurement process that evaluated technical performance, quality standards, and commercial criteria. According to PEJ, Arabelle Solutions brings proven reliability, extensive experience in large-scale power generation projects, and a well-established supply chain, including a significant number of Polish companies.
Arabelle Solutions will adapt its standard steam turbine design to meet the specific requirements of the Choczewo turbine islands. Manufacturing is expected to commence after the finalization of the project’s EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract.
The company already cooperates with Polish manufacturers on international projects and supports the development of local nuclear engineering expertise through partnerships with academic institutions, including the Warsaw University of Technology. The involvement of a major European supplier reflects the Bechtel–Westinghouse strategy of maximizing local industrial participation under the principle of “buy where you build.”
The Choczewo project comprises three AP1000 Generation III+ reactors, featuring fully passive safety systems and modular construction. Six AP1000 units are currently in operation worldwide, with additional reactors under construction or at an advanced contracting stage, reinforcing the technology’s position in the global nuclear energy market.
