Grupa WB joins ASD. Strengthening Central and Eastern Europe’s voice in the European defence industry

Grupa WB has joined the Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), the leading european industry body representing companies from the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors. The membership enhances Grupa WB’s ability to engage directly with european Union institutions and reinforces the representation of the Polish defence industry at the international level.

The decision was unanimously approved by the ASD board. Alongside Grupa WB, Czech-based Czechoslovak Group (CSG) was also admitted. Both memberships entered into force on 4 December 2025.

I am particularly pleased to see the growing engagement of the central and eastern European industrial base, which plays an important role in ensuring Europe’s security and resilience – said Camille Grand, secretary general of ASD.

A European pathway for Grupa WB’s growth

For Grupa WB, joining ASD represents a natural step in its international expansion and confirms its position as a key european supplier of advanced defence technologies, including unmanned systems, reconnaissance solutions, and command, control and communications systems, all of which are increasingly relevant to the maritime domain.

For nearly three decades, we have been delivering advanced, combat-proven unmanned systems, loitering munitions, and command and communications systems that respond to real operational needs – said Piotr Wojciechowski, CEO of Grupa WB.

Technologies developed by Grupa WB, such as C4ISR systems, secure communications and unmanned platforms, play an increasingly important role in maritime security, the protection of critical infrastructure, ports and sea lines of communication – key priorities for EU and NATO member states.

ASD’s role in shaping europe’s industrial and regulatory framework

ASD focuses on civil aviation, defence, security and space-related issues. The association supports its members by developing common industry positions and working closely with european Union institutions on regulatory frameworks and industrial policy initiatives.

ASD also provides access to up-to-date information on international programmes and research and development projects, offering a platform for knowledge exchange within the high-technology sector.

– The growing number of our members and the diversity of their profiles underline ASD’s identity as a truly european association, representing a broad ecosystem of companies supporting a sovereign and secure Europe – added Camille Grand.

Expanding participation in european programmes

Grupa WB has declared its commitment to the development of a competitive european defence industry and to strengthening its participation in international and european industrial and R&D programmes.

– Grupa WB is committed to the development of a competitive european defence industry. At the same time, we are strengthening our involvement in international and european industrial and development programmes – stated Piotr Wojciechowski.

Following the admission of Grupa WB and CSG, the Brussels-based ASD now brings together 28 companies and 23 national associations from 21 european countries, representing more than 4,000 entities. Collectively, ASD members account for 99% of total turnover and 94% of employment in Europe’s aerospace, defence and security sectors.

ASD plays a key role in shaping the conditions for Europe’s industrial and technological defence base, supporting competitiveness, innovation and the development of joint research and development initiatives. Grupa WB’s membership further strengthens the presence of the Polish defence industry in this process, including in areas related to maritime security and the protection of Europe’s maritime domains.
