Vietnamese maritime giant: largest bulk carrier ready to sail
The Vietnamese shipbuilding industry has reached a new milestone by completing the construction of the largest bulk carrier in the country, with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 65,000, named "Truong Minh Dream." Measuring 200 meters in length and 32.26 meters in width, the ship was designed in collaboration between Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering JSC (VISEC) and the Finnish company Bluetech Finland Ltd. Classified by the Japanese classification society ClassNK, it meets international standards and is capable of operating in global waters.

The construction of the ship was carried out by Nam Trieu Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC). The process proceeded smoothly: the launch took place on May 11, 2024, and sea trials were completed on December 4, 2024. The vessel was handed over on December 26 to Dong Bac Shipbuilding Industry JSC, which will be responsible for its operation from the port of Hai Phong.
"Truong Minh Dream" is a double-deck bulk carrier with five cargo holds, equipped with four cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 30 tons, and hydraulically operated hatch covers. The main engine, designed by MAN, was manufactured in Japan.
During the handover ceremony, an order was announced for two more ships with the same capacity, aligning with the Vietnamese government’s strategy to develop the country's maritime economy. The construction of a series of 65,000 DWT bulk carriers aims to strengthen Vietnam's position in the global shipbuilding and shipping markets.
