Superyacht owners return to Damen Yachting for refit and maintenance work
Damen Yachting has reported a marked increase in superyacht Owners choosing to return to the company’s Vlissingen shipyard for refit and maintenance projects — a testament to the trust, expertise, and long-term relationships the yard has built with its clients over the years.

- That so many of our fleet choose to return to us for refit work speaks volumes, says Graeme Pollock, Fleet Support Engineer at Damen Yachting. - Our shipyard will always be a place they can call home.
Recent projects at the Vlissingen facility include the 74-metre Amels 242 AVANTI, currently undergoing scheduled maintenance, and SYNTHESIS, which is in for a five-year service combined with technical upgrades and a full exterior respray.
Captain Ollie Lewis of SYNTHESIS highlights the advantages of returning to the original builder:
- The same people who built the yacht are still here. This knowledge is invaluable for a refit.
The continuity of craftsmanship and in-depth technical knowledge within Damen Yachting’s team plays a key role in the success of its refit operations. From engineering expertise to design refinement, Owners benefit from the same meticulous attention to detail that defines the yard’s newbuild Amels and SeaXplorer superyachts.
Damen Yachting’s commitment to providing comprehensive lifecycle support is also reflected in its collaborative approach across the Damen Group. Together with Damen Shiprepair and Damen Maaskant, the company offers a complete suite of refit, repair, and maintenance services — from technical overhauls to aesthetic transformations.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Damen Yachting’s refit capabilities during METSTRADE in Amsterdam (18–20 November), where the company will exhibit in Hall 8, Stand 08.171.
As Owners continue to seek reliability, transparency, and deep technical insight for their refit projects, Damen Yachting’s “returning fleet” trend underscores one simple fact: for many, there’s no better place to rejuvenate a yacht than at the yard where it was originally brought to life.
