– This finale marks the culmination of the season and 13 years of the PGE PolSailing Program. Over one hundred children from across Poland joined us this year to take their first steps in sailing. They are the future of the sport and potential Olympic champions – said Tomasz Holc, President of the Polish Sailing Association (PZŻ).

Race winners

In the Optimist class, the winners were Hanna Kąkol (UKŻ Lamelka Kartuzy) and Jan Jacyno (YC Nauticus Olsztyn). The Windsurfing category was dominated by Sara Krajkowska and Jan Ruciński (both from SSW MOS Iława). All participants received commemorative medals, while the fastest sailors went home with gold medals and prizes.

PGE supports sailing education and values

– PGE PolSailing combines sailing education with promoting healthy lifestyles, responsibility, teamwork, and respect for nature. The Grand Finale showcased the energy and commitment of the young generation, highlighting Poland’s bright sailing future – noted Justyna Moritz, Director of Marketing and Advertising at PGE.

Onshore attractions

The event featured multiple onshore zones, including skimboards, trickboards, e-sailing, and a “Treasure Map” activity guiding young sailors through challenges. Completing the stations earned participants medals and gifts, fostering engagement and fun.

Stars of polish sailing

Ambassadors of PGE Sailing Team Poland attended the event, including Agata Barwińska, Paris Olympic ILCA 6 silver medalist and world vice-champion, and 49erFX national team sailors Ewa Lewandowska and Anna Zwara. They presented awards, met with young sailors, and encouraged them to pursue their sailing journey.

– This is a fantastic initiative for children to try sailing, windsurfing, or skimboarding. The weather may have been challenging, but that is exactly what builds a sailor’s character – emphasized Agata Barwińska.

Nationwide reach

This year’s program involved 58 centers in 34 cities across 13 voivodeships, covering three components: Optimist Training, Windsurfing, and Young Sailor Program.

– I love sailing for the excitement. I will definitely continue next year – said Franek from Kraków, one of the participants.

Iława – a starting point for future sailors

While the races concluded, the energy and excitement remained over Jeziorak. Laughter on the water, the thrill of medal races, and proud parents created an unforgettable atmosphere.

The Grand Finale of PGE PolSailing marked the beginning of a lifelong sailing journey for many young participants, for whom Jeziorak will always remain a special port of first experiences.
