Orlen Neptun expands Świnoujście offshore terminal activity with new offshore wind contract
ORLEN Neptun has signed a new agreement to utilize the infrastructure of the Świnoujście Offshore Terminal (SOT), a key hub for offshore wind operations in the Baltic Sea region. The contract, concluded with Smulders, a leading producer of service inspection platforms (SIPs), covers the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, implemented by the PGE–Ørsted consortium.

Under the agreement, ORLEN Neptun’s terminal will serve as a logistics and assembly hub for steel components of the wind farm. Components will be stored, assembled, and loaded onto specialized vessels for transport to their offshore installation sites. The cooperation also includes the construction of a dedicated hall for preparatory, assembly, installation, and maintenance operations.
– Świnoujście Offshore Terminal has quickly become a key installation hub for offshore wind in the Baltic region. Our new contracts, including this one with a global leader in offshore components, allow us to leverage our infrastructure while supporting the growth of Polish expertise in tomorrow’s energy sector, said Ireneusz Fąfara, CEO of ORLEN.
Designed to accommodate the largest transport vessels for turbines up to 15 MW, SOT offers direct rail, road, ferry, and air access. Its inland location ensures optimal operational conditions regardless of weather, while its strategic position allows the handling of projects in Polish, German, Swedish, and Danish waters.
The terminal supports the second phase of ORLEN Group’s offshore wind development, covering projects with a total capacity of 5.2 GW. The first, Baltic East, will generate 1 GW off Choczewo (Pomeranian Voivodeship) and is being prepared for a December auction. In parallel, four concessions near Ławica Odrzańska are being readied for the Polish offshore wind support system. The full portfolio is planned for operation by 2040, with three out of five concessions expected online by 2035.
Smulders, responsible for producing internal service platforms, will carry out manufacturing at its facility in Żary before assembling them at Świnoujście. The company is a leading supplier of offshore foundations, enabling access to turbines and electrical substations for maintenance and technical interventions.
Świnoujście Offshore Terminal is rapidly establishing itself as a central hub for Polish and regional offshore wind, integrating production, logistics, and offshore installation capabilities in a single, strategic location.
