ORLEN Neptun Launches Poland’s First Offshore Wind Installation Terminal - A Milestone for Baltic Energy Infrastruc

Świnoujście is now home to a strategic asset in the European offshore wind supply chain. ORLEN Group, through its subsidiary ORLEN Neptun, has officially launched Poland’s first offshore wind installation terminal. Located at the port of Świnoujście, the facility ranks among the most advanced in Europe and is set to play a central role in servicing offshore wind projects in the Baltic Sea.

The terminal is designed to support the installation of dozens of wind turbines annually and will serve both ORLEN Group’s offshore developments and external operators. The first long-term lease agreement has been signed with Ocean Winds, a Spanish-French joint venture and one of the global leaders in offshore wind development. The facility will support the execution of the BC-Wind project, located approximately 150 nautical miles (around 228 km) from the port.

– This terminal represents a major step forward in building Poland’s offshore wind capacity. It supports the emergence of a new industrial sector and creates long-term opportunities for domestic supply chain participation. With contracts already signed, including with global players like Ocean Winds, the Świnoujście terminal will be a key installation hub in the Baltic region – said Ireneusz Fąfara, CEO of ORLEN.

Engineered for high-capacity operations, the terminal can accommodate large jack-up and heavy-lift vessels, and is tailored for turbines with up to 15 MW of capacity. The facility includes extensive storage yards for monopile foundations, towers, blades, nacelles, and cable components. It is also capable of handling offshore substation topsides weighing up to 24,000 tonnes.

Świnoujście’s location offers multimodal access via rail, road, air, and ferry networks. Its inland position also ensures more stable weather conditions for year-round operations, further enhancing the terminal’s strategic value.

– The technical capabilities of this terminal position it among the few in the Baltic region ready to handle next-generation offshore wind projects. Demand is already strong, and we are proud to commence operations by securing a long-term partnership with Ocean Winds – stated Janusz Bil, CEO of ORLEN Neptun.

For Ocean Winds, the collaboration marks the company’s first offshore project in the Baltic Sea.

The terminal launch aligns with ORLEN2035, the Group’s strategic vision, which targets 12.8 GW of installed renewable energy capacity within a decade, including approximately 6.4 GW from offshore wind. The investment strengthens Poland’s position in the transition to clean energy and marks a significant step toward establishing a Baltic offshore wind hub with regional impact.
