ORLEN has entered a new market by completing its first LNG delivery to Japan, one of the world’s largest import hubs for liquefied natural gas. The shipment of 100 million cubic meters of natural gas was supplied to Osaka Gas by ORLEN’s newest LNG carrier, Ignacy Jan Paderewski.

This marks a milestone in the Group’s international expansion and highlights its growing role in the global LNG supply chain.
- Delivering LNG to Japan for the first time in ORLEN’s history demonstrates our commitment to the strategy and our ability to expand into new markets while strengthening regional energy security and independence. The agreement with Osaka Gas is an important step in our international growth with strong potential for further cooperation, said Ireneusz Fąfara, President of the Management Board of ORLEN.
The delivery on 30 September was the 41st cargo handled by ORLEN’s London trading office with its own fleet, and the 15th in 2025. The Group currently operates six LNG carriers, which since the beginning of the year have transported around 700,000 tonnes of LNG to various destinations, ensuring flexibility and scale in its trading operations.
- With a portfolio of around 6.5 MTPA of contracted LNG in the coming years, we are well positioned to supply volumes to the most promising markets. Transactions such as the delivery to Japan are a natural element of strengthening our trading position globally, noted Robert Soszyński, Vice President of ORLEN.
The Ignacy Jan Paderewski entered service in the first half of 2025 and has already operated in Asian waters. Its latest voyage, transporting LNG from the United States to Japan, further enhances ORLEN’s trading efficiency.
Over recent years, ORLEN has consistently built up its LNG capabilities, investing in port infrastructure, a dedicated carrier fleet, and international trading offices. This positions the Group as a reliable partner for global energy markets.
For Osaka Gas, with over a century of tradition in Japan’s energy sector, the partnership with ORLEN strengthens diversification and creates opportunities for long-term cooperation in Asia’s dynamic LNG landscape.
