The agreement brings together two Polish companies with strategic significance, combining ORLEN’s role as a major energy operator with WB Group’s expertise in advanced defence and security technologies. The cooperation includes the development and deployment of modern technological solutions, as well as systematic knowledge-sharing between the teams of both organisations.
- ORLEN plays a strategic role in ensuring energy security not only for Poland, but for the entire region. Our priority is to guarantee stable energy supplies, which requires both physical and digital security of our assets, especially in the current geopolitical environment, said Ireneusz Fąfara, president of the management board of ORLEN. - Cooperation between two Polish companies enables the implementation of advanced technological solutions that significantly increase the resilience of critical infrastructure. This partnership demonstrates how security and technological competences can be effectively combined, while also strengthening the national industrial base.
The cooperation covers challenges related to the protection of critical infrastructure across both onshore and offshore environments. Particular attention is given to maritime infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, including offshore energy installations, transmission systems, terminals and supporting facilities that are increasingly exposed to hybrid, cyber and physical threats.
Joint activities will include the implementation of unmanned systems, advanced monitoring and surveillance technologies, as well as the integration of solutions designed for surface and subsea domain awareness. The parties also plan to carry out joint research and development projects and specialised training programmes aimed at enhancing the capabilities of teams responsible for infrastructure security within ORLEN.

- WB Group, like ORLEN, is a Polish company of strategic importance. Cooperation between an energy company responsible for national energy security and a proven provider of advanced defence solutions is a natural step, said Piotr Wojciechowski, president of WB Group. - We are a leader in unmanned systems, secure communications and systems integration. These capabilities can be effectively applied to protect critical infrastructure, including maritime and offshore assets of strategic importance in the Baltic Sea.
The long-term objective of the agreement is to improve the security of ORLEN’s assets and to further develop national competences in the protection of critical infrastructure. The partnership also includes activities in prevention, education, expert analysis and information exchange, contributing to higher security standards and increased resilience of critical assets.
By strengthening cooperation in the field of critical infrastructure protection, ORLEN and WB Group are responding to the evolving security environment in the Baltic Sea region. The agreement represents another step towards building modern, technology-driven security frameworks and reinforcing the role of domestic industry in safeguarding key energy and maritime infrastructure.
