Golden medals awarde. Final act of the Polish Sailing Championships on Puck Bay
Four days of intense competition, marked by shifting winds, new race formats, and drama down to the final meters – this was the closing chapter of the 2025 Polish Sailing Championships. On Puck Bay, the country’s best sailors in the ILCA 6, ILCA 7, and 470 classes claimed national titles, while the regatta also served as a proving ground for experimental race formats.

Kwaśna takes the crown in ILCA 6
In the women’s Olympic ILCA 6 class, the fiercest duel unfolded between Tokyo Olympian Magdalena Kwaśna (CHKŻ Chojnice) and Wiktoria Gołębiowska (UKŻ Wiking Toruń). Trading race wins throughout the regatta, the pair kept the title fight wide open until the medal race. Kwaśna’s flawless second day, where she dominated all races, gave her a crucial advantage. In the decisive finale, she led from start to finish, sealing her championship in commanding style.
– Conditions were shifty and difficult, so keeping an eye on rivals was a real challenge. Winning both the regatta and the medal race feels like the perfect finishing touch, Kwaśna reflected.
Lilly May Niezabitowska (UKS Kotwica Tarnobrzeg) secured bronze overall and gold in the U23 category. For the youth fleet, the regatta was also the final qualifier for the Youth Sailing World Championships in Vilamoura this December. Hanna Rogowska (CHKŻ Chojnice) booked her ticket by claiming silver in U23 while sweeping gold in U21 and U19, making her the most decorated sailor of the event.
Krasodomski dominates ILCA 7
The men’s ILCA 7 fleet was ruled by Michał Krasodomski (AZS AWFiS Gdańsk), fresh from the Paris Olympics. So consistent was his form that he had already clinched the title before the medal race.
- Finally, after so many years of trying, I’ve won the Polish Championship. Everything went according to plan, Krasodomski said after his victory.
Behind him, Stanisław Klimaszewski (Energa Giżycka Grupa Regatowa) held on for silver, while Jakub Rodziewicz (SEJK Pogoń Szczecin) delivered a standout medal race performance, climbing from sixth to take bronze. Youth titles went to Krasodomski (U23), Filip Olszewski (AZS UW, U21), and Maciej Dudek (Nauticus Olsztyn, U19).
Significantly, the ILCA medal race returned to the Polish Championships for the first time since 2019, underscoring a push for greater spectacle.
Skrzypulec-Szota and Wierzbicki claim first joint gold
In the 470 class, Agnieszka Skrzypulec-Szota and Szymon Wierzbicki (YKP Szczecin/ AZS Poznań) secured their first national title as a team. Already decorated individually, the duo proved unstoppable across both long-course races and short sprint formats, building an unassailable points lead.
– We’ve never raced the 470 in so many different formats before. It was exciting and a great learning opportunity, Skrzypulec-Szota noted.
Silver went to Agnieszka Pawłowska and Tomasz Lewandowski (CHKŻ Chojnice/ AZS AWFiS Gdańsk), who also took U24 honors. The bronze medal was won by Rafał Pogorzelski and Iga Wielczyk (MKS Dwójka Warszawa/ SSW Mos Iława). Among the younger duos, Pola Schmidt and Tymon Kosobucki (YKP Gdynia) stood out with victory in U21.
Testing new formats – looking ahead
Both organizers and the race committee used the Puck regatta to trial no fewer than four different race formats, echoing World Sailing’s ongoing debate on how to modernize Olympic racing for greater visibility and excitement. After earlier experiments during Gdynia Sailing Days, this was another step in exploring the sport’s future.
The feedback from sailors was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the challenge and variety of shorter, faster races. Poland’s willingness to test innovative solutions shows its active role in shaping the global conversation on sailing’s evolution.
A strong finish to the season
The Polish Sailing Championships in Puck closed the 2025 domestic racing season with a flourish. High-stakes battles, demanding conditions, and bold format trials made the regatta one to remember. Gold medals went to Magdalena Kwaśna, Michał Krasodomski, and the Skrzypulec-Szota/Wierzbicki duo – names that continue to anchor Poland’s Olympic sailing ambitions.
