Effective rescue operation in the Port of Ustka. 64th MSPiR mission in 2025

On Holy Saturday, while many were preparing to celebrate Easter, a rescue alert was received by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Gdynia at 17:00. A report from the Ustka harbourmaster's office indicated that personal belongings had been found at beach entrance no. 17, and that a man had been seen entering the sea alone approximately 20 minutes earlier.

he rescue vessel BSR Ustka, already on the water at the time, was immediately dispatched to the scene. The State Fire Service in Słupsk was also notified.

Thanks to the rapid response and efficient coordination of rescue services, the man was located and safely brought out of the water. He was in stable condition and handed over to a medical emergency team. This marked the 64th rescue operation conducted by the Maritime Search and Rescue Service (MSPiR) in 2025.

Operational readiness all year round

Sebastian Kluska, Director of MSPiR, emphasized that rescue teams remain fully operational regardless of the season.

- Easter is generally a time of rest and peace, but our crews are always prepared for any situation. This time, a quick response helped ensure a safe outcome – he said.

The incident at the beach access point in Ustka serves as a reminder that MSPiR maintains full readiness not only during the busy summer season but throughout the year, under all conditions.
