In autumn 2024, Polish shipbuilder CRIST S.A. began steel cutting for the final vessel in a six-ship series for Norwegian shipyard Ulstein Verft. The project advanced on December 19, 2024, with the laying of the keel for SX222, which marked the commencement of a building timetable projected to be completed by the end of 2025.
CRIST S.A. will be quite busy in the following year, with plans to deliver four vessels, including SX222, to Ulstein Verft. These vessels include advanced shipbuilding designs with a focus on sustainability.
The SX222 is based on the ULSTEIN TWIN X-STERN design. It is 90 meters in length and up to 19 meters wide. The Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) is preparing for future methanol fuel operations with the goal of reducing environmental impact. The hull design, which lacks a transom plate, aims to improve fuel efficiency, manoeuvrability, speed, stability, and load capacity.
The ship is equipped with a motion-compensated gangway, a 15-ton crane, and 111 cabins for crew and operational staff servicing wind farms.
