Held under extreme weather conditions and in icy waters of the Gulf of Gdańsk, the event challenged participants to swim a 5-nautical-mile route from the torpedo station to the island and back. The demanding course became a true test of endurance, courage, and mental strength, rather than just physical fitness.
Despite harsh conditions, all participants successfully completed the Memorial, demonstrating the unwavering determination and fighting spirit that have defined the Formoza unit for five decades.
- This Memorial was not merely a sporting competition—it was a symbolic tribute to 50 years of Formoza’s legacy: courage, professionalism, and readiness to act under any circumstances, the organizers emphasized.
Each participant will receive a commemorative medal, while the top performers will be honored with special awards recognizing their outstanding effort and perseverance.
The Memorial stands as a reminder that true strength is forged in adversity—in cold waters, in silence, and in moments that test the very limits of human resolve.
The organizers extended their gratitude to all participants, rescuers, partners, sponsors, and support teams, whose commitment and teamwork ensured the event’s success. The Memorial not only celebrated the history of Formoza but also underscored the enduring values of discipline, unity, and service at sea.
