The operation was executed under a breakbulk scheme, combining two loading methods: directly from the quay and from floating units alongside the vessel. This hybrid approach enabled efficient stowage, minimized risk, and ensured compliance with the highest safety standards while keeping turnaround time to a minimum.
CMA CGM Abu Dhabi, a vessel with a capacity of more than 15,000 TEU, measuring 366 meters in length and 51 meters in beam, is deployed on major Asia–Australia trade routes. The ability to accommodate such specialized cargo underlines the vessel’s flexibility and CMA CGM’s growing competence in the project cargo segment.
The achievement also highlights the role of Port of Brisbane as a key logistics hub in the Pacific region. In recent years, the port has been investing in infrastructure capable of handling non-standard and high-value cargo. The record-breaking yacht shipment confirms its position as a gateway for complex maritime logistics projects.
The coordinated effort of the carrier, terminal operator, and specialized crane operators resulted in the largest single shipment of yachts ever transported on a container vessel, marking another step forward in the integration of project cargo within container shipping.
