Poland’s Ministry of Defence and Palantir Technologies sign letter of intent on defence innovation

Poland’s Ministry of National Defence (MON) and Palantir Technologies Inc., the U.S. data analytics and artificial intelligence leader, have signed a letter of intent to cooperate in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), information technologies (IT), and cybersecurity.

The agreement marks a major step toward developing Poland’s digital defence capabilities and strengthens a collaboration that began in late 2024.

The partnership aims to enhance data integration, real-time analytics, and operational decision-making across the Polish Armed Forces — a move that aligns Poland with NATO’s most advanced digital transformation strategies.

“A milestone for the security of the Polish state”

During the signing ceremony in Warsaw, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz described the agreement as a turning point for Poland’s defence system:

- Today’s letter of intent with Palantir – an absolute leader in data management and its application in battlefield logistics and future design through artificial intelligence – is a milestone. The company’s solutions are used perfectly, among others, by the Ukrainian army, said Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz.

He emphasized that Poland’s goal is not only to modernize its armed forces through equipment purchases, but to lead NATO in operational and informational capabilities:

- It is an extraordinary, very important moment for the security of the Polish state – one of the most significant in the history of building its defence system. To be best prepared, to create a strategy based on the principle that Poland can never be attacked – because it simply wouldn’t pay off – we must be a leader among NATO countries. Not only through the size of our army, but through our operational capabilities.

Data as the new currency of power

In his remarks, the minister underlined that information and data analysis are now as vital to national security as tanks or aircraft.

- To be a NATO leader, it is not enough to buy tanks, aircraft, helicopters or traditional military equipment. We must also build infrastructure – roads, railways, ports and airports – and provide the best conditions for service in our country. But today the greatest challenge for all armies in the world is building information resources. Databases are now the greatest currency – more valuable than gold, dollars, euros, or any other means of payment. They are the greatest treasure of the modern world, and we must manage and protect them well, Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

Palantir – the intelligence backbone of modern warfare

Palantir Technologies is a U.S. software and analytics company specializing in large-scale data integration and visualization. Its platforms — including Palantir Gotham and Foundry — are used by government, defence, intelligence and industrial clients worldwide.

Palantir’s solutions are deployed across the U.S. Armed Forces, UK intelligence agencies, and notably, the Ukrainian military, providing situational awareness, logistics coordination, and AI-assisted operational planning.

By bringing Palantir’s ecosystem to Poland, the Ministry of Defence seeks to integrate data from diverse sources — including satellites, sensors, logistics systems, and command networks — into a single, coherent decision-making framework.

Building Poland’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence Implementation

Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted that Poland is already investing in domestic AI command infrastructure through the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Implementation, established within the Cyberspace Defence Component Command (DKWOC).

- Our strategy, adopted within the Ministry of Defence, includes the development of artificial intelligence and the establishment of the Centre for AI Implementation in the Cyberspace Defence Component Command. The Centre was created in Poland and needs solutions like those offered by Palantir. But not only the Centre – this cooperation also concerns the Cyber Army, the General Command, and the Operational Command, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

- I thank General Sokołowski for conducting the tests, exercises and training with Palantir engineers. This process began in December 2023 and, over the past two years, has included dozens of meetings, drills and system presentations across all branches of the armed forces. Without developing AI capabilities, without implementing them in the army and connecting all branches into one system, conducting modern operations will not be possible, he added.

Partnership rooted in earlier cooperation

The newly signed letter of intent builds upon the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cybersecurity of Information Technology Cooperation”, concluded between the Polish MoD and Palantir on December 23, 2024.

That agreement initiated technical trials and pilot implementations led by the Cyberspace Defence Component.

The ongoing collaboration aims to develop an integrated data and AI management architecture spanning Poland’s entire defence ecosystem — from operational commands to logistics and support structures.

Implications for Poland and NATO

The partnership with Palantir underscores Poland’s ambition to become a technological leader within NATO and a regional hub for defence data analytics and AI-based command systems.

In practical terms, the integration of Palantir’s platforms will enhance:

  • operational planning and decision-making,
  • logistics and supply chain management,
  • situational awareness and real-time analysis,
  • cybersecurity resilience and data protection.

For Poland’s naval and maritime security sector, this cooperation could mean tighter integration of data from radar, sonar, port surveillance and satellite systems — critical for operations in the Baltic Sea region, where hybrid and cyber threats are on the rise.

A digital transformation of defence

The MoD–Palantir partnership symbolizes a broader shift in defence philosophy: from hardware-centric modernisation to data-centric security.

In the digital age, information dominance and AI-driven analysis define strategic advantage.

Poland’s step into the Palantir ecosystem therefore represents not only technological progress, but also a reaffirmation of its role as a frontline innovator within the NATO alliance.
