Strategic improvement of road infrastructure
The agreements were concluded with five Polish companies, including three from Pomerania. The scope of work includes both the modernization of existing routes and the construction of new sections that will improve communication in the investment area.
– We know how important the condition of local roads is for the Choczewo community. Investments in road infrastructure are an essential element of the power plant construction project and a way to minimize inconveniences for residents and tourists – emphasizes Magdalena Wasiluk-Hassa, Director of the Accompanying Infrastructure Division at PEJ. – Thanks to framework agreements, we will be able to efficiently conduct post-execution proceedings and carry out necessary modernizations.
Benefits for residents and tourists
The investments carried out under the signed agreements will not only facilitate access to the power plant construction site but also improve the region's tourist accessibility. Of particular importance is the modernization of roads leading from Słajszewo to the sea, including the reconstruction of bridge structures.
– We want to minimize the inconveniences associated with the implementation of this strategic investment as much as possible. Therefore, it is crucial that the funds allocated for road infrastructure support not only the investment needs but also improve the quality of life for residents and promote tourism development – says Jarosław Bach, Mayor of Choczewo Municipality.
Planned works in 2025
This year, PEJ plans to renovate and modernize, among other things, Fire Road No. 7, leading to the village of Gajówka. This route, leased from the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Gdańsk, is an important element of the local road network. Additionally, the reconstruction of communication routes leading to the sea from Słajszewo is planned, which will facilitate both the daily lives of residents and the development of the local tourism economy.
The first works are set to begin at the turn of the first and second quarters of 2025. The modernization of road infrastructure in the area of the nuclear power plant is a key element in the development of the Choczewo municipality and an important step towards increasing the accessibility and transport safety of the entire region.
