Ocean Winds selects Siemens Gamesa as turbine supplier for BC-Wind offshore project in Poland
Ocean Winds has signed a conditional agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the supply and maintenance of SG 14-236 wind turbines for the BC-Wind offshore wind project in the Polish Baltic Sea. The deal represents a critical milestone in the realization of one of Poland’s flagship offshore wind developments under Phase I of the national offshore wind program.

Under the agreement, Siemens Gamesa will deliver 26 offshore wind turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 14 MW and the ability to increase output to 15 MW using the Power Boost feature. The turbines, certified under the IECRE system, are scheduled for installation and commissioning in 2028.
The marshalling and pre-assembly operations will be based at Terminal T5 in the Port of Gdańsk. Transport and installation of the turbines will be handled by Cadeler using its O-class jack-up vessels, purpose-built for large-scale offshore turbine deployment.
The BC-Wind project is located approximately 23 kilometers off the coast of Krokowa and Choczewo in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. With a planned installed capacity of up to 390 MW and a project area of 90.94 km², it is expected to generate clean electricity for around 488,000 Polish households. The project holds key permits including offshore and onshore environmental decisions, as well as rights to a Contract for Difference (CfD), and is progressing steadily toward a Final Investment Decision (FID) within 2025.
Kacper Kostrzewa, Managing Director for Poland at Ocean Winds, stated that this agreement marks a strategic milestone and reinforces the company’s commitment to the Polish offshore wind market. He emphasized the environmental and economic benefits the project will deliver, highlighting the Baltic Sea as a priority growth area.
Pete Geddes, Project Director for BC-Wind, noted that the decision to select Siemens Gamesa followed a comprehensive assessment of macroeconomic conditions and build experience from the Moray West project in the UK. He expressed confidence in the proven performance and reliability of the SG 14-236 platform, especially with a full-scope service agreement in place.
Marc Becker, Senior Vice President for Offshore at Siemens Gamesa, underlined the importance of the Baltic Sea as a prime location for offshore wind development. He reiterated the company’s readiness to support Ocean Winds in advancing offshore wind in Polish waters and to contribute to Europe's energy transformation with robust 14 MW turbine technology.
The selection of Siemens Gamesa as turbine supplier signals significant progress for the BC-Wind project as it moves toward procurement completion and financial close. The project is set to play a vital role in Poland’s renewable energy expansion and energy security strategy.
