Gdańsk builds the future of offshore: T5 terminal to anchor Baltica 2 wind farm installation
Representatives of PGE Baltica and Ørsted, including port operations specialists, visited the construction site of the T5 installation terminal in Gdańsk. The terminal will play a central role in the offshore wind sector, serving as the key hub for the installation of turbines for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm.

During the visit, representatives of Istrana – the company delivering the T5 project – as well as Baltic Hub, within whose area the terminal is being built, presented the ongoing construction progress and emphasized the importance of QHSE standards throughout the development process.
The site tour also brought together representatives of the general contractor NDI (Sopot-based), contract engineer Royal Haskoning DHV, and the Polish Development Fund (PFR) – a shareholder in both Baltic Hub Container Terminal and Istrana.
– What is being developed here in Gdańsk is the most advanced offshore wind installation terminal in Poland. This investment is essential not only for delivering the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, but for the future of the entire Polish offshore wind sector. From this location, we will install 107 turbines for the project, with installation planned for 2027. Installation ports are a key part of building the domestic supply chain – said Bartosz Fedurek, CEO of PGE Baltica. – Around this terminal, jobs will be created, companies will collaborate, and the heartbeat of Polish offshore wind will truly take shape.
– Today’s visit was an excellent opportunity to observe the construction progress at the T5 terminal. As Ørsted and PGE move forward with this joint investment, we remain closely aligned with the timeline and supplier agreements. Delivering this port on time is critical to the success of Baltica 2. As the largest renewable energy project in Polish history, Baltica 2 will be a flagship initiative in the country’s energy transition – said Ulrik Lange, Vice President and Project Director of Baltica 2 at Ørsted. – The project will generate green electricity for approximately 2.5 million Polish households.
– The T5 terminal investment positions Baltic Hub and the Polish Development Fund – both shareholders of Istrana – as key players in advancing Poland’s energy transition – said Lech Paszkowski, CEO of Istrana. – If offshore wind is to become a strategic component of our energy mix, Poland must have its own dedicated installation terminal to handle the logistics of turbine component delivery and assembly in this part of the Baltic. This directly enables the creation of Polish supply chains and unlocks the development potential of the Gdańsk region and the local workforce of skilled professionals.
In 2024, Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica 2 – a joint venture of PGE and Ørsted – and Istrana – part of the Baltic Hub group – signed a lease agreement for the port area where the T5 terminal is now being constructed. PGE and Ørsted will use this facility to store, preassemble, and install key turbine components for the Baltica 2 project.
The 21-hectare site will feature reinforced surfaces for heavy equipment, two jack-up vessel loading positions, a dedicated unloading quay, and a ro-ro ramp – all tailored to meet the logistical demands of large-scale offshore wind operations.
Baltica 2 entered the offshore construction phase in 2025. Preparatory seabed works for foundation installation and subsea cable laying are expected to begin soon. Onshore grid infrastructure has already been under construction in the Choczewo municipality since mid-2024.
The developers – PGE and Ørsted – have made the final investment decision, secured all key components, and signed contracts for foundations, turbines, cabling, and offshore substations. With all required building permits in place, the 1.5 GW wind farm – comprising 107 turbines – will make a significant contribution to Poland’s green energy future.
