Wind Pace – the latest addition to Cadeler's fleet
Wind Pace, the seventh vessel in Cadeler’s portfolio, was delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The official naming ceremony took place on March 12 at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (COSCO) shipyard in Qidong, China, where the vessel was constructed.
Wind Pace project in the United States
Following delivery, Wind Pace will be deployed in the United States from the second quarter of 2025 to the first quarter of 2026 to support an offshore wind farm project. This will be Cadeler’s second project in American waters.
The sister vessel, Wind Peak, the first of the new P-class vessels, was delivered in August 2024 and is currently involved in the installation at one of the world’s largest single offshore wind farms – the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, located off the Yorkshire coast in the United Kingdom.
Advanced technical solutions of wind pace
Like Wind Peak, Wind Pace is designed for next-generation wind turbine installations and challenging offshore conditions. P-class vessels can transport and install up to seven complete 15 MW turbines or five turbines exceeding 20 MW, significantly reducing installation time and enhancing energy efficiency.
Modern hybrid power systems and cyber-secure operational infrastructure ensure high efficiency and safety. The main cranes, with a lifting capacity of 2,600 tonnes at 47 meters, and a deck space of 5,600 m² enable rapid and secure turbine installations. The vessels are also prepared for future operations on green methanol fuel.
Fleet expansion to meet market demand
- The P-class vessels set a new benchmark in offshore wind turbine installation technology. Their advanced crane capabilities, improved transport efficiency, and reduced energy consumption bring tangible benefits to our clients. Wind Peak has already proven this, and we expect similar success with Wind Pace, said Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler.
Cadeler consistently seeks innovative solutions to support sustainable development in the offshore wind energy sector. Collaboration with key partners, including COSCO, GustoMSC, NOV, Kongsberg, Huisman, and MAN Energy, has resulted in the construction of some of the most advanced vessels in the market.
