In a statement sent to the Polish Press Agency (PAP), Kalina Gierblińska, spokesperson for the Port of Gdynia Authority, said that the port had offered the company Mondry (the current operator) an extension of the current lease agreement for the grain terminal through a relevant annex, ensuring the continued operation of the terminal until the completion of the tender procedures.
- Mondry expressed willingness to continue cooperation but presented several conditions. ZMPG S.A. decided to meet them. Relevant annexes, taking into account Mondry's demands, have been prepared and submitted for signing - she explained.
The statement emphasized that:
- Due to the time-consuming process of acquiring the data necessary to submit applications for corporate approvals and the administrative decision required to conclude a contract with the new lessee of the grain terminal, ZMPG is taking decisive steps to ensure the operational continuity of the terminal, specifically its stable cargo-handling activities.
The company also underlined that the current actions do not interrupt efforts to finalize the contract with the intended long-term operator.
- Since we cannot accelerate the process, we are looking for an alternative, interim solution. Our overarching goal is continuity of operations and support for the agricultural sector, which is crucial to Poland's economic security - said ZMPG Vice President Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spychała, quoted in the statement.
The grain terminal at the Port of Gdynia is a specialized bulk terminal offering transshipment and temporary storage services for grains, oilseeds, and feedstock materials. According to the port’s official website, the terminal includes flat warehouses, silos, and an elevator with a combined capacity allowing for the storage of up to 72,000 tons of cargo.
