During the first three quarters of 2025, the Port of Gdańsk handled over 59 million tonnes of cargo, marking a 1.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when throughput slightly exceeded 58 million tonnes. The strongest growth was recorded in containerized general cargo, with more than 2 million TEUs handled, up 21.7% year-on-year (or 15.5% in terms of total tonnage).
Significant gains were also seen in the handling of ores (+174%) and other bulk cargoes (+8.3%). The liquid fuels segment remains a stable pillar of the port’s operations, accounting for around 50% of total throughput, despite a minor decline of 2.4% year-on-year.
From January through September, 2,667 commercial vessels called at the Port of Gdańsk — nearly the same number as last year, though with a higher average tonnage, reflecting the port’s growing role in accommodating larger and more modern ships.
Financially, the port also posted strong results, achieving a net profit of PLN 285.6 million. In line with the Polish Ports and Harbours Act, these funds are reinvested into the development of port infrastructure — including modernisation of quays, expansion of terminals and road-rail access, as well as innovative safety and efficiency-enhancing technologies.
- The results achieved over the first three quarters of 2025 demonstrate the effectiveness of our development strategy and the commitment of all our business partners. They form a solid foundation for further growth and for strengthening the Port of Gdańsk’s position as a regional maritime leader, — commented the Management Board of the Port of Gdańsk Authority.
With record container handling volumes, diversified cargo structure, and strong financial performance, the Port of Gdańsk continues to assert its role as a strategic maritime and logistics hub for the Central and Eastern European region.
