Poles in the race for medals at the Trofeo Princesa Sofía World Cup in Mallorca
After two days of qualifying races at the Trofeo Princesa Sofía World Cup in Mallorca, the time has come for competition in the gold and silver groups. In these final rounds, sailors fight for a place in the top ten, which guarantees participation in the medal race scheduled for Saturday, April 5th.

A successful day for Agata Barwińska
Agata Barwińska (SSW Mos Iława) had an outstanding day. After two challenging days of competition, the Polish athlete found her rhythm and moved up to 7th place in the ILCA 6 class. In the gold fleet, she sailed confidently, finishing the races in 9th and 3rd place. Wiktoria Gołębiowska (UKŻ Wiking Toruń) also remains in the top ten, despite one weaker race (43rd place), currently holding 9th position.
Fluctuating situation in the 49er class
In the 49er class, the Polish crew Buksak & Głogowski (Centrum Żeglarskie/Nauticus YC Olsztyn) dropped to 11th position after unsuccessful races, although they started the day promisingly in 7th place. Staniul/Sztorch (KS AZS AWFIS Gdańsk) improved their situation, finishing the day in 18th place, including a strong 6th place result.
Challenging path in other classes
Paweł Tarnowski, competing in the slalom class, fell to 17th place after four races. Meanwhile, Anastasiya Valevich managed to climb to 15th position. In the 470 class, Agnieszka Skrzypulec-Szota and Szymon Wierzbicki (Yacht Klub Polski Szczecin/AZS Sailing Team Poznań) dropped to 22nd place, while Zofia Korsak and Mikołaj Bazyli remain in 25th position.
In the formula kite class, the situation remains stable – Jan Marciniak (KS Aqua Włocławek) holds 21st place, Julia Damasiewicz (AZS Poznań) is in 13th place, and Iza Satrjan (UKŻ Wiking Toruń) in 15th.
ILCA 7 and 49erFX
In the gold fleet of the ILCA 7 class, Filip Jarosiewicz (SEJK Pogoń Szczecin) occupies 46th place, while Michał Krasodomski (AZS AWFiS Gdańsk) is in 57th place. In the 49erFX class, the silver group is dominated by the CzapskaRajchert.49FX.Sailing team (Spójnia Sekcja Żeglarska), which firmly holds 26th place.
Ahead of the medal races
Polish sailors still have a chance to advance to the medal races, which will take place on Saturday. The athletes are determined to showcase their full potential and fight for podium positions. We keep our fingers crossed for our representatives!
