PGZ Naval Shipyard invests in future talent through strategic educational partnership

The shipbuilding sector is undergoing dynamic technological development, driving the demand for highly skilled technical professionals. Responding to these industry priorities, PGZ Naval Shipyard (PGZ Stocznia Wojenna) is strengthening cooperation with vocational education institutions to support the training of the next generation of maritime specialists.

As part of this effort, the shipyard has taken patronage over technical classes at the Zespół Szkół Chłodniczych i Elektronicznych in Gdynia. The partnership agreement was signed by Marcin Ryngwelski, MBA, and Beata Koniarska on behalf of the Management Board of PGZ Naval Shipyard, and by School Director Dorota Kotwicka. The cooperation covers students specializing in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, refrigeration, and air-conditioning – key skill areas directly aligned with the needs of modern naval and industrial shipbuilding.

Learning through real industry experience

Under the agreement, students will gain access to:

• Professional apprenticeships at the shipyard,
• Study visits introducing real-world shipbuilding processes and workflows,
• Technical and educational support, including demonstration classes and expert mentoring,
• Employment pathways for top graduates.

By creating a direct bridge between school education and industrial practice, the initiative supports both youth career development and the talent needs of the Polish maritime sector.

Industry–education dialogue in Gdynia

The initiative was further highlighted during a recent meeting of the Gdynia Economic Dialogue Council dedicated to sector-focused education. During the panel discussion “The Modern Shipyard – Tradition, Technology and People: Who Are We Looking For?” PGZ Naval Shipyard presented its expectations for future employees and outlined professional development paths within the maritime sector.

Strengthening cooperation between education and industry is seen as a strategic investment in the region’s technical capabilities and Poland’s maritime security. Aligning theoretical knowledge with real production environments ensures that new specialists enter the workforce ready to contribute to the construction and maintenance of next-generation naval vessels.
