- We are getting closer to starting construction work on our site in the port of Ustka. Modern facilities will be built there to support future offshore wind farms. Alongside initiating cooperation with the contract engineer, we are finalizing tender procedures to select the general contractor. Our goal is to begin construction of the Ustka base this spring - said Bartosz Fedurek, CEO of PGE Baltica.
The responsibilities of the contract engineer include overseeing the detailed design and construction of the O&M (operation and maintenance) base, covering the buildings, quay reconstruction, and all necessary infrastructure for the base's day-to-day operations.
PGE Baltica’s new facilities in Ustka will be located on an area of approximately 2.3 hectares on the western side of the Słupia River. They will consist of an administrative building, a warehouse, a maneuvering yard, and a quay where service vessels, known as Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs), will dock to transport crews to offshore wind farm areas. The O&M base is planned to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2026.
PGE Group’s offshore wind portfolio includes eight offshore wind farm projects at various stages of development, with a total capacity exceeding 7 GW. The most advanced project, Baltica 2, with a capacity of 1.5 GW and a planned operational date of 2027, is being developed in partnership with Ørsted. Additionally, PGE and Ørsted plan to launch the Baltica 3 offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 1 GW, by 2030.
Post-2030, PGE Baltica plans to begin the construction of the Baltica 1 offshore wind farm, with a capacity of approximately 0.9 GW. By utilizing new areas in the Baltic Sea, PGE Group aims to build additional offshore wind farms by 2040. The first offshore wind power plants of PGE will be supported from the O&M base in Ustka.
