ORLEN and Naftogaz Expand LNG Cooperation to Strengthen Ukraine’s Energy Security
Polish energy group ORLEN will deliver an additional 140 million cubic metres of natural gas to Ukraine under a new contract signed with Naftogaz, Ukraine’s state energy company. The gas will originate in the United States and, following regasification at the Świnoujście LNG terminal, will be transported to Ukraine.

This marks the fourth LNG supply agreement concluded between ORLEN and Naftogaz in 2025 alone. The total volume of gas delivered under the previous three contracts amounted to approximately 300 million cubic metres. All supplies have been sourced from American LNG, regasified in terminals located in Poland or Lithuania (Klaipėda).
– Thanks to our growing trading expertise, LNG transport fleet, and secured regasification capacity, ORLEN is able to support Ukraine in diversifying its gas sources and supply routes, especially during the summer storage-filling season – said Robert Soszyński, Vice President of ORLEN’s Management Board for Operations. – Our efforts align with the EU's REPowerEU strategy – and go beyond: ORLEN has not imported Russian gas for over three years and is now actively supporting regional partners like Slovakia and Ukraine. This fourth agreement with Naftogaz confirms the competitiveness of our offering and lays a strong foundation for deepened cooperation.
The contract is part of a broader commercial cooperation agreement in the LNG and natural gas sector signed by the two companies in March 2025.
– Diversification of gas supplies is a cornerstone of Ukraine’s energy security and resilience, particularly in the face of the ongoing full-scale war with Russia – emphasized Sergii Koretskyi, CEO of Naftogaz. – We highly value our partnership with ORLEN, and this additional LNG contract is a key step in preparing for the upcoming heating season.
ORLEN has been present on the Ukrainian market for over 20 years and has played a critical role in stabilizing the country’s fuel supply following the Russian invasion in February 2022. Just two days after the outbreak of war, ORLEN resumed rail fuel deliveries to Ukraine. Regular supplies of petrol, diesel, and other products followed, alongside road deliveries from Lithuanian terminals and rail transport through Poland.
Today, ORLEN is the largest fuel supplier to Ukraine, and also exports bitumen produced by ORLEN Unipetrol in the Czech Republic.
Bilateral ties between ORLEN and Naftogaz were further reinforced in 2025 through two strategic agreements: one focused on LNG and natural gas trade, and another aimed at deepening long-term cooperation. Both companies also actively participate in key industry events such as Petroleum Ukraine Warsaw’25, helping to build resilient regional energy partnerships.
