NATO has successfully wrapped up its first focused patrol of 2025 under Operation Sea Guardian (OSG), reinforcing maritime security in the Eastern Mediterranean. During the patrol, over 100 hailings were conducted to establish contact with passing ships, ensuring enhanced situational awareness in the region. Speaking about the operation, Captain Adil Tüfekçi stated: “By working closely with airborne and submarine units from our allies, we were able to significantly improve maritime awareness. Every participating unit played a crucial role in this success.”
The mission also included a passing exercise with the Italian Navy’s ITS Alpino, strengthening interoperability among NATO forces. With the Mediterranean being a vital corridor for global trade, Operation Sea Guardian remains a key component in deterring security threats and countering potential terrorist activities at sea.
