Naval Academy opens academic year 2025/2026

On September 30th, the Polish Naval Academy officially opened the 2025/2026 academic year. A total of 1,347 students will begin their first year of studies, including 157 midshipmen.

The ceremony took place in the Auditorium of the Main Library and gathered representatives of the Ministry of National Defence, the National Security Bureau, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, local authorities, rectors of partner universities, and commanders of naval units. The event was accompanied by the Naval Academy Honor Guard and the Navy Representative Orchestra.

Rector-Commandant Rear Admiral Prof. Tomasz Szubrycht emphasized that the inauguration, alongside the officer promotion and military oath, is one of the most important events for the Academy. He underlined the growing number of midshipmen, the strong position of postgraduate training and specialized courses, as well as the Academy’s scientific and sports achievements at both national and international levels.

During the ceremony, first-year representatives received symbolic student records. Honorary Badges of the Naval Academy, Rector’s Awards, as well as distinctions for the best students and theses of 2024/2025 were presented.

Congratulatory letters were sent by President of Poland Karol Nawrocki, Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Minister of Science and Higher Education Marcin Kulasek.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by Jan Grabowski, Vice President of PGZ S.A., on “A New Era for the Polish Navy: The Strategic Importance of the MIECZNIK Project and Cooperation with PGZ.”
