- Our goal is to make science accessible and engaging. We want people to see that it’s not only useful, but also exciting, says Dr Zuzanna Szwedek-Kwiecińska, spokesperson for the University.
Over the course of two days, participants will explore topics ranging from optoelectronics and maritime communication systems to energy management, smart ports and virtual reality in education. The programme includes more than 50 events organised by the university’s departments and the Maritime Institute.
Visitors will also get hands-on experience in state-of-the-art labs and simulators, as well as a chance to explore the school’s 100-year maritime heritage. A planetarium show and insights into safety at sea, food quality, and environmental impact of marine accidents are also on offer.
A science festival with a seafaring finale
The third and final day will feature a Maritime Picnic, including a live sea shanty concert and a student competition. The event aims to create a space where the academic community, youth, and the wider public can meet in an informal, inspiring setting.
