World-Class Regattas and Championship Events
This year’s edition will feature multiple high-profile international regattas. It opens with the Micro Class World Championships (July 7–12), where measurement day on July 7 will precede five days of competition. Poland, a dominant force in this class with an impressive record of 62 World Championship medals, will be represented by top sailors including 11-time World Champion Piotr Tarnacki.
From July 21–27, the focus will shift to the Youth Match Racing World Championship, held on RS21 keelboats. This dynamic format promises thrilling head-to-head duels between the most promising young sailors vying for global titles in one of sailing’s most tactical disciplines.
In parallel, Test Event regattas for the 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 Olympic classes (July 12–18) will offer athletes their first opportunity to train and compete on the same waters that will host the 2027 World Sailing Championships. The regattas will also serve to crown Poland’s national champions in skiff classes.
National Regattas and Inclusive Sailing Initiatives
The City of Gdynia Cup in ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7 classes (July 11–13), followed by the Polish Sprint Championships, will draw the country’s top dinghy sailors. Later in the month, the GSD Cup in the Open Skiff class (July 23–24), and a closing weekend of regattas across diverse fleets including FINN, OKD, 505, FD, H16, N15, and Preste 18 (July 26–27), will round out a robust national calendar.
Gdynia Sailing Days will also promote inclusive sailing through the “Sails Without Barriers” program, aimed at expanding access to sailing for people with disabilities. The regatta in the Hansa 303 class, featuring Poland’s national para sailing team, highlights a growing commitment to equality and representation in the sport.
Young sailors under 13 will have their moment during the KINDER Joy of Moving Coaches' Cup (July 17–19), where Optimist class races will foster skills, joy, and sportsmanship for the next generation.
Regional Competitions and Industry Showcase
The Tricity Sailing League will stage its third round during the event, where club crews from northern Poland battle for promotion to the national finals. The league format continues to grow in prestige and serves as a development platform for sailing clubs.
From July 24–27, Gdynia will also host the Polboat Yachting Festival, the country’s leading in-water yacht exhibition. The event will showcase the latest innovations in yacht design, marine propulsion, and leisure marine technology – positioning Poland as a rising force in European boatbuilding. Industry professionals, suppliers, and enthusiasts alike will gather to explore luxury motorboats, sailing yachts, and cutting-edge maritime solutions.
Gdynia Sailing Days 2025 is organized by the Polish Yachting Association (PYA), with co-organization by the Pomeranian Voivodeship Government and Gdynia Sports Center. Strategic partners include the City of Gdynia, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism of Poland, and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. Automotive partner of the event is Grupa Plichta.
With its broad scope of competition, youth engagement, inclusive initiatives, and industry presence, Gdynia Sailing Days 2025 reaffirms its status as a leading fixture on the international sailing calendar. For competitors, manufacturers, and maritime professionals, Gdynia offers not only a world-class racing venue but a comprehensive celebration of the sport and its future.
