On behalf of the entire academic community, Rector Prof. Adam Weintrit, Master Mariner, DSc, PhD, Eng., laid a wreath at the monument. He was accompanied by Chancellor Mr. Filip Malata and Bursar Mr. Eugeniusz Paweł Orzeszek. The ceremony was attended by the GMU Representative Company, which provided the honorary guard of honor, adding solemnity and maritime dignity to the event.
The monument “To those who have sailed on their eternal watch” is a symbolic site of remembrance for all who dedicated their lives to the sea. Each year, the wreath-laying ceremony reminds the maritime community of the courage, sacrifice, and service of those whose final voyage ended beyond the horizon.
Maintaining this long-standing tradition, Gdynia Maritime University once again paid tribute to the seafarers who rest at sea — a gesture of respect, remembrance, and unity that continues to define the spirit of the maritime profession.
