From paperwork to smart marinas
Until recently, many marinas – including high-end ones – relied on radios, paper logs, and Excel sheets. As a rapidly growing group with marinas in Croatia, Greece, Italy, Spain, and the UAE, D-Marin saw the potential to unify operations and improve customer experience through technology. To maintain its pace of growth and service quality, D-Marin embarked on a company-wide digital transformation, partnering with Future Mind – a tech firm experienced in designing and delivering complex digital systems.
Data-driven transformation strategy
The partnership began with a deep-dive into the customer journey. Future Mind conducted research among clients and marina staff, and reviewed all communication channels. Their analysis highlighted key improvement areas: simplifying the booking process, improving visibility on availability and pricing, and tailoring digital communication. Based on the findings, Future Mind created a customer journey map, proposed UX recommendations, and developed a concept for a digital reservation platform.
The first MVP of the booking system was met with enthusiasm – with 20% of reservations completed entirely via the new digital platform.
- The collaboration with D-Marin, which started nearly five years ago, fits perfectly with our international expansion and showcases the full scope of our digital transformation offer. The solutions we deliver are a great example of how retail experience can be applied to different sectors. It’s also proof that we thrive in the pan-European IT ecosystem and can operate in any country, in line with the value proposition of Solita, which we joined in December 2023 - Tomasz Woźniak, CEO at Future Mind, a Solita company.
D-Marin’s digital ecosystem: B2C and B2E solutions
Based on the strategic roadmap, Future Mind implemented a full digital ecosystem for D-Marin, supporting both B2C and B2E use cases. The core of this system is an integrated marina management platform, enabling real-time operational oversight and supporting critical business processes – from sales and reservations to resource availability management.
This enabled the launch of customer-facing services including a client portal and mobile app (iOS and Android), offering functionalities such as digital berth reservations, online check-in, access to documents and order history, stay management, and smart utility access via IoT-connected pedestals.
On the B2E side, Future Mind also developed an app for marina staff – improving operational workflows, enabling incident response, and facilitating communication with IoT sensors. Integration with Sense4Boat technology allows real-time vessel monitoring. Sensors track temperature, smoke, battery levels, and water tanks – notifying yacht owners of potential risks and enabling marina teams to take quick action.
A new industry standard
With this digital ecosystem, D-Marin guests enjoy fast, remote, and intuitive access to services – with no need to visit the marina office. At the same time, staff have real-time access to operational data and can respond more efficiently. The system is now live in multiple locations, with more marinas being onboarded.
- We are proud to set new industry standards through investments in IT infrastructure and digital tools. These innovations have reshaped how we engage with our clients and have helped us unlock the full potential of our marinas - Matthias Gehring, Chief Digital Officer at D-Marin.
A long-term partnership built for scale
Both parties view this as a strategic relationship. Future Mind continues to support D-Marin not only as a tech provider, but also as a digital advisor helping to shape future products and expansion strategies.
- We knew from day one this wasn’t just a regular tech deployment. Together with the D-Marin team, we’ve built something that’s transforming the entire industry – from customer experience and internal operations to growth strategy. This is a model where technology serves clear business goals – and delivers real impact - Tomasz Woźniak, CEO at Future Mind, a Solita company.
