British Forecasts: Rare red warning issued for incoming Storm Eowyn
The United Kingdom is preparing for exceptionally severe weather conditions brought by Storm Eowyn. Red warnings from the Met Office regarding wind are in effect for Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland, where extreme weather events, including tornadoes and an "explosive cyclogenesis," are forecasted.

Red alerts and danger to life
The Met Office warns that Storm Eowyn will bring violent winds reaching speeds of up to 145 km/h, intense rainfall, and snow in highland areas. The red warning - the highest level of alert - is in place from 7:00 AM on Friday in Northern Ireland and from 10:00 AM in Scotland. According to the weather agency, the conditions could cause significant damage.
- Widespread destruction, transport disruptions, and power outages - the statement reads.
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris cautions:
- The storm poses an extreme threat to life. There is no higher warning than a nationwide red alert. The risk to life is extreme and real - he urges residents to stay indoors.
