The regatta featured 505, ILCA 6, Finn, Nautica 450, Korsarz, Omega Sport & Standard, as well as the rapidly growing WingFoil.

Tradition meets innovation

The event highlighted both heritage and modernity in sailing. On one side, the legendary Finn class – with its strong Olympic history for Poland – gathered 48 sailors, including Błażej Wyszkowski, the 1972 Munich Olympian, who at 76 years old finished 24th. The gold medal went to Bartosz Szydłowski (KS Sailing Legia).

In Omega Sport, the championship was decided by the narrowest of margins. The Gdańsk University of Technology crew (Marcin Styborski, Oliwia Jekiel, Franciszek Borys) secured gold after tying on points with their rivals.

- The first two days brought strong winds and fantastic trapeze sailing conditions. The final day was cloudy, but the race committee managed to complete the schedule before the rain, said crew member Oliwia Jekiel.

In ILCA 6, the championship came down to the final race, with Jan Rohde edging out Łukasz Machowski. Meanwhile, in 505, Jan Sibilski and Andrzej Borowiak dominated the series, adding the national title to a season where they topped every major regatta in Poland.

- This is the fulfilment of our season’s dream. Winning the national title crowns a year where we took first place in four major events and second in one. Sailing with Jan has been an incredible experience – he’s a brilliant tactician and a sailor with huge potential, emphasized Andrzej Borowiak.

WingFoil on the rise

Running alongside the championships was the PZŻ WingFoil Cup and the Polish Instructors’ Championships (PSWing). In just one day of competition, sailors managed to complete eight full races thanks to strong and steady winds, underlining the fast-growing importance of WingFoil within the sailing community.

Recognition and the next stage

During the closing ceremony, Przemysław Witkowski and Daniel Sokołowski received honorary awards for their contributions to Polish sailing.

The end of this stage marked the beginning of the third stage of the Polish Championships, featuring Olympic classes 470, ILCA 6, and ILCA 7. Among the sailors are members of the Polish Sailing Association’s National Team, including Olympic silver medallist Agnieszka Skrzypulec-Szota, competing in 470 with Szymon Wierzbicki, a PGE Sailing Team Poland ambassador and 5th-place finisher at the last Olympic Games in 49er.
