400th LNG delivery marks major milestone for Świnoujście terminal and Baltic energy logistics

The President Lech Kaczyński LNG terminal in Świnoujście received its 400th shipment of liquefied natural gas on 16 November, underscoring the growing strategic role of Polish maritime infrastructure in global LNG logistics and regional energy security.

The anniversary cargo amounted to 160,000 m³ of LNG, which—after regasification—translates into 96 million m³ of natural gas fed into the national transmission network. Each call at berth T1 demonstrates the terminal’s operational efficiency and its ability to support diversified import routes.

Wojciech Wrochna, government plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure, emphasized the strategic importance of the milestone:

— The 400th LNG delivery reflects the government’s long-term diversification strategy and confirms Poland’s ability to secure its own gas needs while supporting regional stability.

GAZ-SYSTEM CEO Sławomir Hinc noted the operational significance for the maritime and gas sectors:

— Processing 400 LNG cargoes proves that the terminal can reliably handle supplies from multiple global sources. We are advancing major infrastructure projects, including the FSRU in the Gulf of Gdańsk and preparations for bioLNG handling in Świnoujście.

With its expanded regasification capacity of 8.3 bcm per year—equivalent to about half of Poland’s annual gas demand—the Świnoujście terminal has become a core asset of the Baltic energy landscape. Its ongoing modernization, increased throughput and strong reliability position Poland to develop into a regional gas hub.

For the maritime sector, the 400th delivery highlights the port of Świnoujście’s established place in the global LNG supply chain. Continuous traffic of LNG carriers, upgraded quay infrastructure and enhanced regasification services reinforce its status as one of the leading LNG terminals in the Baltic Sea region.

The milestone delivery not only marks a symbolic achievement but also confirms the long-term diversification of suppliers and the growing strategic importance of Świnoujście in Europe’s evolving energy and shipping ecosystem.
