Tricity ports key to strengthening the Polish army

Poland continues to enhance its armed forces through deliveries of modern military equipment from South Korea. In the past week, 16th Mechanized Division received 14 K2 "Black Panther" tanks, while in the coming days, the 18th Mechanized Division will acquire 8 self-propelled K9 howitzers along with additional equipment.

– More tanks, howitzers, and launchers are already on their way. A strong Polish Army is the key to the security of all of Europe – emphasized Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

These deliveries are part of Poland’s broader cooperation with South Korea in modernizing the Polish Armed Forces. During a parliamentary speech, Paweł Bejda, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defense, assured that all agreements are being implemented as scheduled, unaffected by South Korea’s internal political situation.

– During discussions with representatives of the Korean administration, we have repeatedly received confirmation that Korea’s domestic political situation does not and will not affect the execution of these contracts. All major political forces support close ties between the defense industries of both nations – said Deputy Minister Bejda.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, Poland has already received 98 K2 tanks, 160 K9 howitzers, 12 FA-50 aircraft, and 90 Homar-K launcher modules. In 2025, the Polish Army is set to receive an additional 82 K2 tanks, 52 K9 howitzers, two FA-50 aircraft, and 36 rocket launchers. At the same time, negotiations are ongoing for a second executive contract for an additional 180 K2 "Black Panther" tanks.

Additionally, Deputy Minister Bejda addressed concerns regarding U.S. foreign aid funding. He confirmed that President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend foreign aid financing for 90 days does not apply to defense contracts with the Polish government, ensuring that negotiations and contract execution can proceed as planned.

Poland remains committed to strengthening its defense capabilities, reinforcing its strategic position in the region, and contributing to European security.
