The Baltic Sea plays a crucial role in the security architecture of Central and Eastern Europe. Rising tensions, the modernization of regional naval fleets, and NATO’s increased presence make it necessary to develop a long-term maritime security strategy. Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that high-ranking former officials, including former head of the National Security Bureau Jacek Siewiera, may participate in the team's work, with his experience being a valuable contribution to the new group's efforts.

The establishment of this team is a response to the need for a comprehensive approach to hybrid threats, non-kinetic operations, and potential provocations in the Baltic Sea. Experts will analyze crisis scenarios and recommend actions to enhance the response capabilities of the Polish Navy and its cooperation with allies.

The Ministry of National Defense’s initiative aligns with broader efforts to strengthen military presence in the Baltic region. The involvement of the academic community will be key, providing substantive support in the form of strategic analyses and defense scenarios.

Will the new team become a real tool for shaping Poland’s maritime policy? What specific recommendations will emerge? The coming months will provide answers, revealing the role this advisory unit will play in shaping Baltic security.
