Polish-flagged yacht detained for missing license and registration
A routine inspection carried out by officers from the Polish Border Guard's SG-112 patrol unit revealed serious compliance breaches aboard a Polish-flagged yacht operating in the Pomeranian Bay region.

The inspection, conducted in the North Basin marina in Świnoujście, found that the skipper—also the yacht’s owner—was unable to present a valid sailing license. Further investigation showed that the vessel had not been registered in the official REJA24 system, meaning it lacked the legally required registration documentation for yachts and pleasure craft up to 24 meters in length.
According to the owner's statement, all necessary documents were allegedly kept at home, and the yacht had been in private use for the past six years. Despite the explanation, Border Guard officers issued a formal notice prohibiting further navigation until the deficiencies are resolved. Additionally, the commander of the Pomeranian Border Guard Division is set to file a request with the Director of the Maritime Office in Szczecin to initiate administrative proceedings.
This incident underscores the ongoing need for vessel owners and operators to comply fully with maritime regulations, including proper licensing and vessel registration. Such measures are essential not only for legal operation but also for ensuring safety at sea—for crew members, passengers, and other users of maritime waterways.
