PGE Baltica, CRIST, WIKE, and Baltic Industrial Group Join Forces to Strengthen Poland’s Offshore Wind Supply Chain

PGE Baltica – a subsidiary of the PGE Group and the company with the largest portfolio of offshore wind projects in Poland – has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with CRIST S.A., its special-purpose entity WIKE S.A., and the Baltic Industrial Group. The agreement outlines cooperation on the design and construction of installation and service vessels dedicated to offshore wind farm operations in the Baltic Sea.

The initiative aims to reinforce the domestic offshore wind supply chain by leveraging Polish industrial capabilities in vessel construction and operations.

– For investors, future offshore wind farm operators, and suppliers alike, there is a shared goal: to ensure that as many Polish companies as possible take an active role in the offshore wind value chain. Achieving a satisfactory level of local content requires joint, long-term commitment – said Dariusz Marzec, CEO of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

– While PGE Baltica will not invest capital in building a vessel fleet, as we are not and will not become a shipowner, we are ready to share our technical expertise and knowledge with partners. This support can be instrumental in the development and implementation of vessel concepts tailored to future offshore projects – added Piotr Dziubałtowski, COO of PGE Baltica.

CRIST S.A. stands as the only shipyard in Europe to have built three installation vessels for offshore wind farms and more than a dozen service operation vessels (SOVs). Currently, CRIST is constructing an advanced cable-laying vessel and several SOVs for international clients. Under the terms of the LoI, CRIST, WIKE, and the Baltic Industrial Group – part of the Polish Industrial Development Agency – have declared their intent to participate in upcoming tenders for chartering installation and service vessels to support future PGE Group offshore projects.

– Our subsidiary CRIST Offshore was the first in Poland to sign an EPC contract for an offshore transformer substation for Phase One of Polish offshore wind farms. This contract elevated us to a Tier 1 supplier status. We believe we are well positioned to deliver a Polish-built jack-up installation vessel for the next phase of offshore wind development. With time being a critical factor, we are already undertaking conceptual and design work – noted Ireneusz Ćwirko, CEO of CRIST S.A.

WIKE S.A. has the ambition to become Poland’s first operator of a domestically built jack-up vessel for the construction and servicing of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.

– Our goal is to not only construct, but also operate the vessel in Polish and regional offshore markets – said Wojciech Kąkol, CEO of WIKE S.A.

The Baltic Industrial Group, leveraging its extensive offshore and shipbuilding experience, will contribute its capabilities in modular fabrication, outfitting, and system integration, including piping, electrical systems, and the installation of offshore-grade equipment such as heavy-lift cranes.

– We are already working on advanced offshore crane systems for installation vessels, which demonstrates our readiness to support this strategic initiative – said Adam Kowalski, CEO of the Baltic Industrial Group.

The signed LoI represents a significant step toward enhancing Poland’s position in the offshore wind sector through strengthened local content and industrial collaboration. It reflects the growing alignment of national stakeholders committed to building sovereign capabilities for the European offshore wind transition.
