Orlen to supply American LNG to Ukraine

Orlen and Naftogaz have signed a natural gas purchase and sale agreement, ensuring deliveries to Ukrainian consumers as early as April. This marks the second contract stemming from the cooperation agreement established between the companies earlier this year. The commodity will be sourced from the United States.

The transaction between Orlen and Naftogaz of Ukraine covers the supply of approximately 100 million cubic meters of natural gas. To execute the delivery, the Polish company has procured an LNG cargo in the U.S., which will be shipped to the Świnoujście terminal in Poland. After regasification, the gas will be transported to the Polish-Ukrainian border.

- The new agreement for gas deliveries to Naftogaz highlights the competitiveness of Orlen’s offer. We are consistently strengthening our trading capabilities and leveraging our experience in the U.S. market—this enables us to provide attractive commercial terms to our partners. At the same time, we are contributing to the diversification of Ukraine’s gas supply sources, thereby enhancing energy security in both Ukraine and the broader region, said Ireneusz Fąfara, CEO of Orlen.

- Our priority is to ensure stable gas supplies. Cooperation with Orlen expands Ukraine’s LNG import capacity and strengthens energy security. We are diversifying supply sources to guarantee reliable and accessible gas deliveries, which is particularly crucial amid ongoing Russian attacks on our infrastructure, stated Roman Chumak, acting CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

The newly signed contract is the second agreement between Orlen and Naftogaz in March 2025. Under the previous deal, an additional 100 million cubic meters of LNG will be supplied to Ukraine via the Klaipėda terminal in Lithuania, where Orlen holds regasification capacity reservations.

Both transactions are based on the memorandum of understanding between Orlen and Naftogaz for cooperation in natural gas supply.
