Orlen: a record year for small-scale LNG sales
In 2024, the Orlen Group delivered nearly 244,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to customers, marking an almost 30% increase compared to the previous year. The LNG originates primarily from the Świnoujście terminal, as well as the Klaipėda reloading station and Orlen’s own production facilities. The liquefied gas is supplied to various customers, including individual consumers with limited access to the national gas network.

The Świnoujście Terminal remains the central hub for Orlen Group's small-scale LNG sales, dispatching over 11,000 tankers last year, which delivered 197,000 tons of gas to customers.
- The small-scale LNG sales by Orlen Group in Poland are steadily increasing, confirming both the attractiveness of the fuel and the competitiveness of our commercial offering. LNG transported by tankers ensures access to a low-emission energy source in areas not covered by the national gas grid. At the same time, the development of the small-scale LNG market supports Poland’s economic transition, in which gas plays a key role in ensuring energy security, said Grzegorz Bujnowski, Executive Director of Gas Trading at Orlen.
The Świnoujście terminal receives LNG shipments from Orlen’s global suppliers, including the United States, Qatar, and Norway. While most of the imported LNG undergoes regasification and is injected into the national gas transmission system, a portion remains in liquefied form for distribution via specialized cryogenic tankers and containers.
Beyond its Świnoujście operations, Orlen Group also produces LNG at its plants in Odolanów and Grodzisk Wielkopolski. Additionally, since 2020, the company has been utilizing the Klaipėda reloading station for further distribution. In 2024, Orlen supplied nearly 244,000 tons of LNG to the market, including:
- 197,000 tons from the Świnoujście terminal,
- Over 22,000 tons from its Odolanów and Grodzisk Wielkopolski facilities,
- 25,000 tons from Klaipėda.
Orlen’s key LNG customers include industrial enterprises across various sectors, as well as individual consumers connected to isolated gas systems not linked to the national grid. In such cases, LNG is transported to local regasification stations, where it is converted back into gas for distribution. LNG is also used in regions with access to the national gas grid but where demand exceeds pipeline capacity. In these cases, LNG regasification stations supplement gas supply, ensuring that customer needs are fully met.
