The “Storm Strike” series has been held regularly for several years, serving as the Lithuanian Navy’s largest annual training event. Previous editions included participation from NATO allies such as Poland, Portugal, Italy, and Romania, conducting combined amphibious, engineering, and maritime operations along Lithuania’s coastline.
The 2025 iteration, running from 13 to 31 October, focuses on defending the Klaipėda seaport area, conducting amphibious landings near Melnragė, and neutralizing naval mine threats in the Curonian Lagoon and coastal waters. The scenario emphasizes multi-domain coordination, protection of critical infrastructure, and operational communications under simulated combat conditions.
In the Baltic Sea, vessels from the Lithuanian Naval Flotilla (Karo laivų flotilė) are performing tactical maneuvering exercises, refining navigation, formation control, and ship-to-ship cooperation. “Storm Strike 2025” forms part of Lithuania’s national defense training framework and contributes to preparations for wider NATO operations, including BALTOPS and Iron Wolf.
