Gdynia Maritime University opens second round of admissions

Starting September 1, the university launches its second round of supplementary admissions for the upcoming academic year.

With over 100 years of academic tradition, UMG is a university that not only trains future officers for the global merchant fleet but also prepares professionals highly valued in industries such as shipbuilding, offshore energy, IT, transport and logistics, tourism, finance, and quality engineering.
A comprehensive academic offer – from the sea to offshore and beyond
The university consists of five faculties, each aligned with current trends and labor market demand:
- Faculty of Electrical Engineering – educating specialists in electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, and applied computer science.
- Faculty of Computer Science – a newly established faculty responding to the needs of the rapidly growing IT sector, offering two specialization paths: intelligent applications and autonomous systems programming. Students gain practical experience through six-month internships with Tri-City tech companies.
- Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – training marine engineering officers and experts in offshore wind energy, shipbuilding, and advanced diagnostic systems.
- Faculty of Navigation – preparing future deck officers as well as logistics and transport specialists for the fast-developing TSL sector.
- Faculty of Management and Quality Science – offering programs in management and quality engineering, designed for those who aspire to work in business, finance, certification, or entrepreneurial ventures.
A distinctive feature of GMU is its English-language programs, including:
- mechanical engineering – ship propulsion plant and offshore construction operation (BSc)
- maritime business and management (BSc and MSc)
- navigation (BSc)
These programs combine maritime expertise with international exposure, attracting students from across the globe.
Strong links with industry
What sets GMU apart is its strong cooperation with the maritime economy and business sector. Students engage in industry-driven engineering projects, internships, and training on board the university’s own vessels. In addition, GMU offers modern sports and recreation facilities, 850 places in student dormitories, and extensive international exchange opportunities through the Erasmus+ program.
