Exercises in the Gulf of Gdańsk: Border Guard, Police and Armed Forces in joint maritime operations
Advanced joint training took place in the Gulf of Gdańsk and the ports of the Tri-City, bringing together nearly one hundred officers and soldiers responsible for national security. The training was organized by the Central Counter-Terrorism Police Unit “BOA”, in cooperation with the Maritime Border Guard Unit, the Independent Counter-Terrorism Police Unit in Gdańsk, and the Police Aviation Directorate of the General Police Headquarters. The Maritime Border Guard Unit contributed operators from its Operational Support Department and vessels from the Kashubian Border Guard Squadron.
Full-scale operational scenarios were carried out under conditions simulating real threats. Operations included actions both on vessels moored in port and at sea. Assets deployed in the drills included the S-70i Black Hawk helicopter, RIB assault boats from the Military Police Special Unit in Warsaw, as well as seagoing vessels of the Border Guard and the Polish Navy. Police K9 units and SAR resources also supported the exercises.
Key elements of the scenarios included:
- air and sea assault and boarding procedures,
- detaining suspects on passenger ferries,
- securing critical infrastructure in port areas,
- operations under dynamic maritime threat conditions.
The drills confirmed that coordinated efforts by the Border Guard, Police and Armed Forces significantly enhance readiness to respond to modern threats, from terrorism to hybrid operations. Joint maritime exercises in the Baltic Sea region underscore the ability of Polish security services to act swiftly and effectively in any operational environment.
